St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Community is the Catholic Chaplaincy for Makerere University Business School. Its started in 1998 following a merger of the National College of Business Studies – Nakawa and the Faculty of Commerce – Makerere University.
St. Charles Lwanga Catholic community has grown alongside the institutional changes that have taken place at its ground home, Nakawa Campus. Around 1984 it was placed under Makerere University and became its campus ceasing to be an independent institution. This was however short-lived; the Education Ministry upgraded the campus into a fully fledged National College of Business Studies (NCBS) which had mandate for business education in the country alongside the Colleges of Commerce distributed in various parts of the country. In 1998, under a Ministerial Instrument there was a merger between the Faculty of Commerce of Makerere University and NCBS to form the current Makerere University Business School.
