“At that time: The Jews disputed among themselves, saying, “How
can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my
flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:52-54.
St. Augustine said, “Recognize in this bread what hung on the cross, and in this chalice what
flowed from His side…whatever was announced…beforehand in the sacrifices of the Old
Testament pertains to this one sacrifice, which is revealed in the New Testament.” Let us pray,
Lord Jesus, the invitation to commune on You in the Eucharist is a must for eternal life. You
give us Your Body, Your flesh to eat and Your Blood to drink. The eating of You and drinking
of You is life-giving. I long for this new life You give us when in the Eucharist we communicate
on Your Body and Blood. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
