Word for Wednesday January 24. Memorial of St. Francis de Sales.

Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no grain…They are the people who hear the word, but worldly anxiety, the lure of riches, and the craving for other things intrude and choke the word, and it bears no fruit. Mark 4:7, 18-19. St. Dominic said, “We must sow the seed, not hoard it.”

Let us pray, My Jesus, we can so easily be lured away from prayer by worries and desires. We think ‘I will fix the problem, then I will stop and pray.’ Or ‘I will acquire one more thing, then I’ll trust in Your word’. By Your grace Lord, may we stop today, and let Your Word settle in our hearts, may it become our anchor, that we may bear much fruit. Amen. “Let your light shine!! Be blessed. Larry.
