Word for Thursday December 19. St. Anastasius.

“There was a priest named Zechariah . . . he had a wife . . . and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years. Now while he was serving as priest before God . . . there appeared to him an angel of the Lord . . . But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth; for he will be great before the Lord.” Luke 1:5-8, 11-15a. St. John Bosco said, “Entrust everything to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and to Mary Help of Christians, and you will see what miracles are.” Let us pray, Lord Jesus, anoint us with new oil! We long for great breakthroughs in our day to day life; barrenness or advanced years did not deter Elizabeth from getting a child in her womb. May no barrier stand between us and the destiny You have prepared for us. May we have the joy and gladness of seeing miracles happen just because of Your word. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
