“Jesus summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them ‘Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake…will save it.” Mark 8:34-35. St. Augustine said, “Every action done so as to cling to God in communion of holiness, and thus achieve blessedness, is a true sacrifice.”

Let us pray, Lord God, You teach us that we must deny ourselves. It is the hardest thing to do. Our world teaches the opposite. Grant us the grace to see, that in denying ourselves, and choosing Your way, we find life, and true freedom. We ask this
