Word for Friday April 18. Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion.

“When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his Mother ‘Woman, behold your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold your Mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said ‘I thirst’. So they put a sponge soaked in wine…up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, He said ‘It is finished.’ And bowing his head, he handed over his spirit.” John 19:26-30. St. Pope John Paul II said, “[Every person] is called to share in that suffering
through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the Redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the Redemption.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, Your Mother stood and watched, immersed in Your suffering. There was no escape, no turning away. She stood and let it flood her being, enveloping her heart, one with You. We ask her intercession, to obtain for us the grace of walking with people in their suffering. May we see You in them and be Your living heart in the world. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
