“Though I thought I had toiled in vain and for nothing, uselessly spent my strength, yet my reward is with the Lord, my recompense is with my God. For now the Lord has spoken, who formed me as his servant from the womb, that Jacob may be brought back to him, and Israel gathered to him.” Isaiah 49:4-5. St. Pope John Paul II said, “Look today to John the Baptist, an enduring model of fidelity to God and His Law. John prepared the way for Christ, by the testimony of his word and his life. Imitate him with docile and trusting generosity.”
Let us pray, Lord God, St. John was so faithful – facing opposition, questioning, and finally arrest and death. Yet he remained faithful, even in the dark of imprisonment when he asked ‘Are you the One?’ Through his intercession, may we remain faithful, even when we struggle and cannot see our way. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
