Word for Sunday August 3.

“Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.” He replied to him, “Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?” Then he said to the crowd, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” Luke 12:13-15. St. John Chrysostom said, “Happiness can only be achieved by looking inward and learning to enjoy whatever life has, and this requires transforming greed into gratitude.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, Your Father brought us graciously into this world and provides graciously. We take from all around us and make our
own. You warn us against greed; that our life does not consist of possessions. Grant us the grace to look beyond what we have and seek You the Provider of all that we have. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
