Word for Saturday, August 23. St. Rose of Lima, Virgin.

“Boaz took Ruth. When they came together as man and wife, the Lord enabled her to conceive and she bore a son. Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed is the lord who has not failed to provide you today with an heir! May he become famous in Israel . . . And the neighbor women gave him his name . . . They called him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.” Ruth 4:13-14, 17. St. Padre Pio said, “The most beautiful act of faith is the one made in darkness, in sacrifice, and with extreme effort.”

Let us pray, Father, You reward those who are faithful! Ruth’s decision to return with Naomi makes her a grandmother of Your Son, Jesus the Christ, son of David. Give us a strong staying power, Lord; that we may find blessing in all the good people and events we attach ourselves to that they may lead us to a stronger bond of love with You. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
