Word for Thursday January 8. St. Severin.

“He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord . . . And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.” Luke 4:17-19, 21-22. St. Catherine of Sienna said, “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, to be a Christian is to become like Youin love, humility, and truth. Fill us with the fullness of Youranointing, that every word we speak and every action we take may reflect Your life and light. May our lives be Good News to the weary, opening eyes, breaking bondages, and bringing freedom to all we encounter. Empower us, Lord, to be instruments of Your mercy and love in the world. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
