Word for Friday January 23. St. Emerentiana.

“And David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Behold, David seeks your hurt’ . . . See, my father, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for by the fact that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and did not kill you, you may know and see that there is no wrong or treason in my hands. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt my life to take it. May the Lord judgebetween me and you, may the Lord avenge me upon you; but my hand shall not be against you.” 1 Samuel 24:10-13. St. Teresa of Ávila said, “The closer a soul is to God, the more it feels the need to forgive, to love, and to let go of anger.”

Let us pray, Loving Father, We thank You for generous and magnanimous hearts, people who harbor no ill will, but sincerely desire the good of others. You showed us this spirit in David, who restrained himself from harming Saul, even when his own life was threatened. Lord, help us rise above hatred, anger, and the desire for revenge. Teach us to respect life and to honor others, even in moments of injustice and pain. Grant us the grace to place final judgment into Your hands, for You alone are the righteous Judge of us all. We trust in Your justice and mercy. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
