Word for Thursday February 19. St. Barbatus of Benevento, St. Odran.

“My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man with gold rings and in fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing aslo come in, and you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing as say, “Have a seat here, please,” while you say to the poor man, “Stand there,” or, “Sit at my feet,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and be judges with evil thoughts? St. James 2:1-4. St. Basil the Great said, “The bread you store up belongs to the hungry; the cloak you keep in your
chest belongs to the naked.”

Let us pray, Loving Father, we are all Your children, created in Your image and worthy of equal dignity. Guard our hearts from favoritism and pride, that no status or structure may lead us to lift some and diminish others. Teach us to treat all with justice and love—and to receive the same in return. Amen. “Let your light shine!” Be blessed, Larry.
