Word for Saturday February 21. St. Peter Damian.

“For we all make mistakes, and if any one makes no mistakes in what he says he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also. If we put bits into the mouths of horses that they may obey us, we guide their whole bodies. Look at the ships also; though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things.” James 3:2-6. St. Augustine said, “A man is not great by what he speaks, but by what he does; yet careless words can undo all good works.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, we confess that we often fail through careless and unguarded words. Forgive us for the reckless speech that does not build up Your Church. Purify our hearts and transform our tongues, that what we say may honor You and strengthen our families and communities. Amen. “Let your light shine!” Be blessed, Larry.
