About Fr. Raphael

Born and raised in Mpigi, Central Uganda, Fr. Raphael spent most of his childhood and formative years with his grandparents, Joseph and Matilda Kanyike, following the death of his mother at the age of 12. He attended Kisubi Seminary and Katigondo National Major Seminary before moving to California – United States for his Graduate Studies in Theology from August 2006 – August 2011.

Raphael was ordained to the Diaconate on November 20th 2010 in Los Angeles California by Bishop Oscar Solis, Auxiliary of Los Angeles Archdiocese.

On August 13th 2011 the then Deacon Raphael was ordained a priest by the late Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, Archbishop of Kampala at that time.

Fr. Raphael has served in different capacities, places, and ministries since his ordination. The most two recent ones before being appointed Deputy Chaplain at the Business School, were:
1. Founding Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Janya Sub Parish
2. Hospital Chaplain for over nine years in California and in Portland – Oregon, United States of America.

Besides being a priest and spiritual leader, Raphael enjoys a great deal of traveling and exploring new countries and places; he loves farming at a large scale commercial level; he’s very close to his family and loves them dearly.

He’s also a longtime Manu fun, The Los Angeles Dodgers (for Base Ball), and the LA Lakers (for Basketball).

Fr. Raphael holds duo citizenship for both Uganda and the United States of America.
