Word for Friday August 23.

“A scholar of the law tested Jesus by asking him ‘Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?’ He said to him ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:35-
39. Pope Benedict XVI said, “Christian Faith and ethics do not wish to stifle love but to make it healthy, strong and truly free: this is the exact meaning of the Ten Commandments, which are not a series of “noes” but a great “yes” to Love and to Life.”

Let us pray, Lord God, teach us this truth, implant it in our hearts, that in loving You, and receiving Your love, we become who we were created to be. And in this creative love, we become merciful, compassionate, and genuinely
helpful to those we meet; we can bear You to the world. Grant us this grace Lord. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
