Word for Friday March 4th. “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?”

Isaiah 58:6-7. Elie Wiesel said, “Our lives no longer belong to us alone; they belong to all who need us desperately.” Let us pray, Lord Jesus, the fast that pleases Your Father is one where we come back home in holiness and connect with the poor, the hungry and all those in need. During this Lent may we make one poor richer; feed one who is hungry and attend to one who really needs our assistance. Amen.
