Word for Friday March 7. Sts. Perpetua and Felicity. Friday After Ash Wednesday.

“This rather is the fasting that I wish: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; sharing your bread with the hungry, sheltering the oppressed and the homeless; clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own.” Isaiah 58:6-7. St. Pope John Paul II said, “Lent is a time of truth, which, as in the case of the Good Samaritan, makes us pause, recognize our brothers and sisters, and put our time and possessions at their service in daily sharing. The Good Samaritan is the Church! The Good Samaritan is every man and woman! By calling! By duty! The Good Samaritan lives charity.”

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we have many people who are bound unjustly, many go hungry and without shelter. Help us to do what we can, to speak up for the suffering, to befriend the lonely. Help us reach out to those in our own families who are difficult. May we see with Your eyes and so be Your goodness in the world. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
