Word for Friday October 8th. “Come, spend the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God! …Proclaim a fast, call an assembly; gather the elders, all who dwell in the land, into the house of the Lord your God, and cry to the Lord!” Joel 1:13-14. Pope Francis said, “The Church must be a place of mercy freely given, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven, and encouraged to live the good life of the Gospel.” Let us pray, Father God, may the Holy Spirit guide us to repentance. May we learn humility, and in this find freedom to act uprightly, and to show compassion and mercy to all the world. Amen.
