“Circumcise your hearts therefore, and do not be stiff- necked any longer. For the Lord your God is the God of gods, the Lord of lords, the great God,
mighty and awesome, who has no favorites, accepts no bribes, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and befriends the alien, feeding him and clothing him. So you too must befriend the alien, for you too were once aliens.” Deuteronomy 10:16-19. Saint Clare of Assisi said, We become what we love and who we love shapes what we become. If we love things, we become a thing. If we love nothing, we become nothing. Imitate the poverty of the blessed Christ and live by the essentials.

Let us pray, Lord God, You are just and merciful in all Your ways, but we cannot understand circumstances at times, people suffer so. Bend our hearts towards You, for we have become stuck in our ways. May we live surrendered to You, by Your grace, and so become Christ-bearers to our neighbors.
