Word for Monday August 7.

“When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew
in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from
their towns. When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for
them, and he cured their sick.” Matthew 14:13-14. St. Teresa of Avila said, “God is full of
compassion and never fails those who are afflicted and despised, if they trust in Him alone.” Let
us pray, My Jesus, we remember you are one of us, fully human, and yet the Son of God. You
suffered sadness at the death of John, and your heart was full of compassion for the people who
ran to you. You were their Light in the darkness. Be our Light today, Lord. Amen. “Let your light
shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
