On coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him. And a voice came from the heavens “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11. St. Ambrose said, “The Lord was Baptized, not to be cleansed Himself, but to cleanse the waters, so that those waters, cleansed by the flesh of Christ which knew no sin, might have the power of Baptism.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, You humbled yourself, becoming one of us, and being baptized by John, though You were no sinner. You were Holy, and so made the waters holy Yourself. Help us to live like You did Lord, humble and full of Truth, always seeking the
