“On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate along the river where we thought there would be a place of prayer. We sat and spoke with
the women who had gathered there. One of them, a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth, from the city of Thyatira, a worshiper of God, listened, and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying.” Acts 16:13-14. Cardinal Robert Sarah said, “Our world
no longer hears God because it is constantly speaking, at a devastating speed and volume, in order to say nothing. Modern civilization does not know how to be quiet. It holds forth in an unending monologue.”
Let us pray, Lord God, You lead in the most unexpected ways. As with Paul meeting Lydia, and God opening her heart, we too, if we listen, can hear Your leading, and follow the way of Your Holy Spirit. Teach us Lord to listen well, help us stop our busyness, and instead say, “Speak Lord, Your servant listens!” Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
