Word for Saturday August 9. St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein), Virgin and Martyr.

“Moses said to the people: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength . . . When the Lord, your God, brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers . . . take care not to forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. The Lord, your God, shall you fear; him shall you serve, and by his name shall you swear.” Deuteronomy 6:4-5, 10a, 12-13. St. JoseMaria Escriva said, “Get used to lifting your heart to God, in acts of thanksgiving, many times a day…because you haven’t what you need, or because you have. Thank him for everything, for everything is good.”

Let us pray, Loving Father, You deserve our total love and attention. It is You Lord who brings us from one celebration to the next. Moses urged the people that when they enter the promised land they may never forget You who did so many marvels for them along the way to the promised land. Lord, that we may never forget from the far You have taken us from; may we never forget the people who have sacrificed that we reach where we are today. Amen. “Let your light shine!!”
