Word for Saturday January 24. St. Frances de Sales.

“David said to him, “How did it go? Tell me.” And he answered, “The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead; and Saul and his son Jonathan are also dead.” . . . Then David took hold of his clothes, and tore them; and so did all the men who were with him; and they mournedand wept and fasted until evening for Saul and for Jonathan his son and for the people of the Lord and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.” 2 Samuel 1:4, 11-12. St. Alphonsus Liguori said, “He who trusts himself is lost; he who trusts in God can do all things.”

Let us pray, Father, We pray that You will never leave us nor forsake us. When Your Spirit departed from Saul, he was left vulnerable and fell in battle. Father, keep us close to Your heart; be our Lord, our strength, and our support in every struggle we face. Stand with us in all our battles, seen and unseen. Do not allow our enemies to prevail over us, but because You are with us, make us victorious according to Your will. May we fight not in our own strength, but in the power of Your presence and grace. We ask this in the mighty Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
