Word for Saturday January 31. St John Bosco.

“A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was asleep in the stern on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ He woke up, rebuked the wind and said to the sea ‘Quiet! Be still!’ The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them ‘Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?’ They were filled with great fear and said to one another ‘Who then is this that even the wind and sea obey?”Mark 4:37-41. Mother Teresa St. Teresa of Avila said, It is certain that the love of God does not consist in this sweetness and tenderness which we for the most part desire; but rather in serving Him in justice, fortitude, and humility. His majesty seeks and loves courageous souls.”

Let us pray, Jesus, who are you, Lord? Do we know yet who you are? Do we trust you the way you want to be trusted? Is our confidence in you? You can indeed calm the waves and the wind; all things are in your power. But what you ask of us is love. A heart for you and for our neighbor. We say yes Lord, take our hearts, and we will love your people may it be our food. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
