“No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:16-17. Servant of God Dorothy Day said, “Most cradle Catholics have gone through, or need to go through, a second conversion, which binds them with a more mature love and obedience to the Church.”
Let us pray, Lord Jesus, occasions abound when we mix what does not mix, forgive us for the syncretism; failing to flush out the sinful past to embrace a new holiness in our life. Give us a new love, commitment, holiness and a devotion that deserves Your precious Name. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
