“Now there was at Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which means Dorcas or Gazelle. She was full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she fell sick and died . . . Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him entreating him, “Please come to us without delay.” So Peter rose and went with them . . . Peter . . . knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, rise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.” Acts 9:36-40. Pope Francis said, “In the face of so many wounds that hurt us, and could lead to a hardness of heart, we are called to dive into the sea of prayer, which is the sea of boundless love of God, in order to experience his tenderness.”
Let us pray, Lord Jesus, like Tabitha we fall sick and turn dead to essential life-giving engagements. Lord we need to hear again those prophetic
words which can make us rise from our slumbers. Lord, send us the “Peters” to wake us up so that we can rise and live again in the power of Your Spirit; fully and real children of the Father. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
