Word for Saturday September 14. The Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

“Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped . . . being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:6, 7b-11. St. Padre Pio said, “It is true that God’s power triumphs over everything, but humble and suffering prayer prevails over God Himself.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, we thank You for embracing and making the cross the center of our Christian life and being the saving power for us who believe. Your humility and acceptance of lowliness is a sign for us of what real power is. May all our sufferings be part of the sacrificial and redemptive moments for us. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
