Word for Thursday August 28. St. Augustine, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

“Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake…So too you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Matthew 23:42-44. St. Francis de Sales said, “Every Christian needs a half an hour of prayer each day. Except when he is busy, then he needs an hour.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, we do become complacent, even growing tired, forgetting that this could be the day, this could be the night when You come for us. We pray for the grace, to be busy at work, serving, interceding for others, and always stopping to ponder You within us, the Lord of Glory, loving
people though us. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
