“At that time: Jesus said to the Pharisees, “There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at this gate lay a poor man named Lazarus, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table; moreover the dogs came and lick his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.” Luke 16:19-22. St. John Chrysostom said, “Not to share our own wealth with the poor is theft from the poor and deprivation of their means of life; we do not possess our own wealth, but theirs.”
Let us pray, Lord Jesus, You teach us to care and to extend a compassionate hand to the hungry, the naked, and all in need. Forgive us when we are indifferent to the sufferings of others and fail to help. Grant us a new heart, tender and moved by the plight of our brothers and sisters. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
