Word for Wednesday March 5. St. Virgilo. Ash Wednesday.

“Even now says the Lord, return to me with Your whole heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning; rend Your hearts, not Your garments, and return to the Lord your God. For gracious and merciful is he, slow to anger and rich in kindness.” Joel 2:12-13. St. Pope John Paul II said, “Lent affords . . . this favourable moment, this “day of salvation” . . . so that it may be lived intensely both as a time of conversion to God and of love for our brothers and sisters. Lent calls us to a complete change of mind and heart in order that we may hear the Lord’s voice inviting us to turn to him in newness of life and to make ourselves ever more sensitive to the sufferings of those around us.”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, just as You wept over Jerusalem, as people turned away from You, so today many turn away, and refuse what You long for – our hearts open and surrendered. Father God, we ask this grace – that we seek You this Lent and return to You with our whole hearts. Bring us to that place that Jesus gained for us, our home in you. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
