Word for Wednesday May 21. St. Christopher Magallanes and Companions, Martyrs.

“In those days: Some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” And when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and some of the
others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and the elders about this question.” Acts 15:1-2. Pope Francis said, “On this day, I would like all of us to hope anew and to revive our trust in others, including those who are different than ourselves, or who come from distant lands, bringing unfamiliar customs, ways of life and ideas! For all of us are children of God!”

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, we have differing opinions and even conflicts at times. The Gentile Church was divided over circumcision. Your Spirit led them to seek guidance from the Elders in Jerusalem. May Your Spirit grant us the humility, Lord, to accept that in life we do not know
everything and that we may need to consult the more knowledgeable and better placed. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
