Word for Wednesday May 29.

Memorial of St. Paul VI, Pope. “Jesus said to them ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter said in reply ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus said to him in reply ‘Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.” Matthew 16:15-18. St. Pope Paul VI (1897 – 1978) said, “Here lies the test of truth, the touchstone of Evangelisation: It is unthinkable, that a person, should accept the Word and give himself to the Kingdom, without becoming a person who bears who bears witness to it and proclaims it in his turn.”

Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we thank you for Our Mother the Church, built by Christ as a living organism, with Jesus our Head and the Holy Spirit our life-giving power and truth. Through the intercession of St. Pope Paul VI, may we be living witnesses to the Gospel and so lead others to you. Amen.
