Word for Saturday August 1. St. Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

“Rescue me out of the mire; may I not sink! May I be rescued from my foes and from the watery depths. Let not the flood waters overwhelm me, nor the abyss swallow me up…But I am afflicted and in pain; let your saving help O God protect me. I will praise the name of God in song.” Psalm 69:15, 29-30. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque said, “Cling to God and leave all the rest to him. He will not let you perish. Your soul is very dear to him. He wishes to save it.”

Let us pray, O God, we pray for those who are overwhelmed in life. They don’t know to call out to you, they don’t know of your saving power. Pour out grace upon grace we pray, that those living surrounded by distress and sorrow may find your healing love and begin to live in hope. Amen.
“Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
