Jesus said to his disciples: A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For people do not pick figs from thornbushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. A good person out of the store of the goodness of his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45. St. Basil said, “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship; he who plants kindness gathers love.”
Let us pray, Heavenly Father, our hearts are yours. Help us to begin each day with prayer. May you fill us in the morning, and from our storage of the goodness you bring, may we bear good fruit in the world, joy and generosity for others.
