turned aside from the way I have pointed out to them, making for themselves a molten calf, and
worshipping it.” Exodus 32:7-8. St. Augustine said, “Come, Lord, stir us up and call us back.
Kindle and seize us. Be our fire and our sweetness. Let us love. Let us run.” Let us pray, O God,
have mercy on Your people during this time of Lent. Help us to see where we have turned away
from You and gone our own way. Have pity on us, and bring us back to our First Love, which is
