“Because there arose no little dissension and debate…it was decided that Paul and Barnabas…should go up to Jerusalem to the Apostles and presbyters…they were sent on their journey by the Church…and when they arrived in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the Church as well as by the Apostles and presbyters.” Acts 15:2-4. St. Cyril of Jerusalem said, “My brothers, you must consider and preserve the traditions you are now receiving. Inscribe them across your heart.”
Let us pray, O God, in your wisdom you established the Church, and early on it was united and growing, with leadership and guidance. We pray for the Church today – please bless our Pope, our Bishops, our Priests and all people with an overflowing of your Holy Spirit this Pentecost we pray.
