Word for Thursday May 14. St. Mathias, Apostle.

“So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us – one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection . . . And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was enrolled with the eleven apostles.” Acts 1:21-22, 26. St. John Henry Newman said, “God created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.”

Let us pray, Loving Father, You chose Matthias to be numbered among the Apostles of Your Son, and he faithfully took up the place You had prepared for him. When the time comes for us to assume the roles and responsibilities You have destined for us, may we also be chosen and found ready to serve You as faithful witnesses of Your truth and love. Amen. “Let your light shine!!” Be blessed. Larry.
